This is a great time of the year to remember that Jesus is alive, and because of that, we can be alive too.

The resurrection of Jesus is more than a story, It’s the foundation of our faith, and it gives purpose to being a ministry leader. Without this event, Jesus would have been defeated, but because of it, He is undefeated and our champion.

“5. Then the angel spoke to the women. “Don’t be afraid!” he said. “I know you are looking for Jesus, who was crucified. 6. He isn’t here! He is risen from the dead, just as he said would happen. Come, see where his body was lying.”Matthew‬ ‭28‬:‭5‬-‭6‬

Today He lives and He’s coming back to take us with Him.

But for now, we’re living on the Earth and we’re navigating life itself. This gives us a wide variety of emotions and events. We face highs and lows and at times uncertainty. But through it, all our hope is in Jesus because He is the author and finisher of our faith.

The resurrection of Jesus gives power to His church, it also gives purpose to us as ministry leaders. This monumental event changed the world and gave us a clear mission.

“Therefore, go and make disciples of all the nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father and the Son and the Holy Spirit.”‬Matthew‬ ‭28‬:‭19

Notice, the resurrection doesn’t mean we sit and wait for Jesus to come, but rather we must go and do what Jesus said to do. This is a paradigm shift in focus, action, and mentality that we need in leadership.

We’re not called to build our kingdom, we’re here to build His kingdom. We’re not here to protect our power, we’re here to release His power. We’re not here to protect us four and no more, we’re here to reach more people and show them, Jesus.

We’re called to be the church and reveal who Jesus is through our words and actions.

This is a mandate we have in Christ and it’s because He’s alive that we have this purpose.

It’s with this focus that we must stay the course, overcome setbacks and keep a clean heart. These three things are massive because if our enemy can’t stop us, then he will distract us with nonsense and get us off our purpose. This shows that being focused is powerful and that when we are clear in purpose, God’s purpose will be completed!!

So, here are the three things we must do, to be a purposed leaders.

1st – Stay the course.

When we know our purpose it’s easier to stay the course to get fulfilled. Staying the course speaks to being consistent and clear-headed throughout the journey of our faith. So often we’re tempted to cut corners, take a new course and do it our way. But when we stay in the heart of Jesus, we know what to do, and we know where to go.

This gives us clarity and through it all, Jesus wants people to be saved!

We must stay the course; souls are the heartbeat of Christ. Therefore, what we do and how we do it can fulfill the great commission!!

It’s simple, Jesus wants souls!

Stay the course and reach for people! That’s what Jesus is doing right now!

2nd – Overcome setbacks.

Anytime we’re advancing God’s church, there will be setbacks. The key is to not quit when we get them. I believe the enemy desires to cause frustration, unbridled anger, and more to get us off track.

However, setbacks can be the opportunity for a miracle if we see it right and let God move through it. Every miracle starts with a problem, so setbacks can be our greatest moment as we let Jesus move through them!!

So when you face a setback please remember who you’re really fighting for and continually worship and praise God. He moves through our praises.

“Yet you are holy, enthroned on the praises of Israel.”Psalms‬ ‭22‬:‭3‬

3rd – Keep a clean heart.

Having a clean heart is not normal. In fact, our hearts are unclean and full of wrong things. But Jesus has the power to clean our hearts and transform us from the inside out.

King David prayed this,

“Create in me a clean heart, O God. Renew a loyal spirit within me.”Psalms‬ ‭51‬:‭10‬

Notice, God must create in us a clean heart because our heart is NOT clean.

But with God, all things are possible through his Holy Spirit, He will clean our hearts and transform us from the inside out. It’s vital to remember that this is not a one-time event, but rather a continual process throughout our lives.

When it comes to ministry there will be plenty of opportunities to have our hearts filled with hurt, heartache, rejection, and more. What we do with this will determine our longevity and our impact. This is why we must let the Holy Spirit continually move in and through our hearts with the tenderness of the Lord, keeping us right with God and with people.

I’m determined to be clean through Jesus!

I’m determined to be a purposed leader for His cause and show others who Jesus is!

We have this moment to do something with and it’s our time to reflect that He is alive and that He can do anything for anybody anywhere!!

So, how are you doing with staying the course? How are you handling setbacks? Is your heart clean?

I encourage you this Easter season to worship Jesus because He lives and praises Him for what He wants to do in you!

Let His resurrection life fill you to be a purposed leader! The time is now and He is ready to do great miracles throughout your lifetime!
