When a man has surrendered his sinful nature, his earthly desires, and his own understanding, he has entered into a deeper knowledge of God’s character and love. He has crucified the fleshly desire for earthly gain and the fear of eternal punishment, and has relinquished even the love of life itself, gaining eternal life and supreme bliss in Christ Jesus. Having yielded all to God without reservation, he has gained everything and rests in peace, trusting in the bosom of the Almighty.”As Jesus taught us, ‘Whoever wants to save their life will lose it, but whoever loses their life for me will find it’ (Matthew 16:25). And Paul wrote, ‘I have been crucified with Christ and I no longer live, but Christ lives in me. The life I now live in the body, I live by faith in the Son of God, who loved me and gave himself for me’ (Galatians 2:20). Only when we surrender our selfish desires and trust fully in God’s goodness can we experience true peace and eternal life.
